FLOORING reveal- why I chose LVT + two flooring design tips

This Post is brought to you in partnership with ENGINEERED FLOORS

Let’s take this basement renovation to the next level with new flooring. I’m so excited to share
about my partnership with Engineered Floors®. They are the suppliers of some of the best hard
surfaces and carpet in the industry. After going to the parade of homes here in Utah over the
past 5-plus years, I saw some of the most amazing floors that looked like wood but were even
more durable. One thing that surprised me is that these floors were in almost all of the multi-
million dollar homes I toured. It is called LVT, one of the most durable hard surface products on
the market. I saw it mostly in the basements but I would not be shy to use it also on my main
floors. The product is so good that you would not be able to see the difference between LVT
and wood. I have learned that it is waterproof, pet friendly, scratch resistant, provides quiet
comfort underfoot, etc. With a family and now a new pet, flooring that can handle wear and tear
is at the TOP of my list.

So when I was planning my basement renovation I just knew I had to use this type of flooring.
Here are 3 reasons why I chose this line by Engineered Floors. It is from their Triumph New
Standard Plus brand and the color I chose is Cancun.

1- I love the painted-beveled edge, a simple plank look, but won’t allow debris to
settle into the cracks … easier to keep clean, plus with the smaller edge the look is seamless.

2- It looks like high-end wood, and it’s half the cost of actual hardwood.

3- I love the color. It’s almost an identical match to the white oak cabinetry I am looking at
using in either the kitchen or laundry room for this project. The LVT floor will only be in the
bedrooms, however when it comes to designing your space, here is one of my design tips.

DESIGN TIP #1: You want the main finishes (also known as hard finishes) for your
rooms/project to coordinate with other parts of your home, meaning somehow you want to make
a connection with one space to the other. You can incorporate different design styles and
elements, but your main goal should always be consistency.
The easiest way to achieve this is by having your main finishes coordinate with other finishes
you will be putting in the rooms near the space. Start by laying out your finishes together to get
a visual. My main goal was to pick the right color and style of flooring. I wanted them to
coordinate with other parts of this basement renovation and I also wanted a color that would be
timeless; not too light and not too dark.

I debated between New Standard Plus’ colors Cancun and Kyoto – both great options. The
Kyoto was just a little bit warmer, but the Cancun felt better in my space.

DESIGN TIP #2: It has to FEEL right. Design for me is NOT just about a few rules but it is also a
feeling. I do not know how else to describe it other than once you have 2 or 3 options you are
drawn to, you need to let the samples sit in the space, move them to different areas of the room
and see how they feel with the lighting from the windows and with the lights on and off. Do they
give a warm or cool vibe? This color Cancun felt both warm and sometimes cool in different
lights. But when I combined it with my paint color options, the floor color and the black hardware
on the doors, it felt perfect!! What do you think of the color I chose?

Now that the floor is installed I will be picking the carpet for the hallway and stairs. Stay tuned
for more on that plus go see the full reveal for bedroom 2, sharing some images below plus a
video of the full space on my Instagram page @tanahallows here.

Tell me, would you consider LVT for your next flooring project? Click here to see the
Engineered Floors dealer locator.
There is most likely a dealer + installer in your area. Luxe
Flooring
is the dealer in my area and did an amazing job with the install of my floors.

If you would like to work with me and Luxe and Engineered Floors
, send me a message and I
would LOVE to help coordinate your flooring needs. I just finished a client’s flooring remodel for
her whole home. She used LVT and the Dreamweaver Carpet. It turned out so good! I will also plan to share some of my clients space with you via my instagram stories soon.

Stay tuned for my next flooring decision – carpet! There are lots of good options I am considering
from Engineered Floors’ DreamWeaver® brand, also a favorite of mine.

I will plan to share some of those options with you in my instagram stories and would love your help as I decide on the ONE. Thank you!
