MIRROR Trends Spotted at my 2021 parade of home tours

I have been touring the Utah Valley parade of homes for the past three years. Its been fun to gather ideas and inspiration for all of my design projects. This year I noticed several trends. Trends meaning design elements or decor that seemed to be used more often. I will share the key trends I found from this year in a 5 part series. In my design experience, I have noticed that trends will come and go and come back again. Its fun to see how they are being used, as most trends are simply a twist on the classics.

Hopefully this information helps you as you plan your next home project.

The first key trend I noticed has to do with mirrors….which are always a necessity for several spots in your home. I will talk about how and when they were used as well as the most popular shape I spotted, from the entry to the bathrooms to the bedrooms.

Round mirrors have been quite popular over the past couple of years. I noticed them in several places again this year, however there is a new shape that is giving the round mirror a run for the money. Each house used round mirrors in at least one spot. A powder bath seemed to be the most popular place I saw them or sometimes on a bedroom wall or in a hallway. See examples of them being used below.

The most popular style of mirrors I noticed in every home this year were rectangle mirrors. Either framed or frameless or making a big impact in the bathroom, where the mirror went from the counter to ceiling, right over the Vanity/sink. I saw rectangle mirrors used in many places, from the entry way hung over an entry table, or on a wall in the bedroom hung above the dresser. As well large floor mirrors in a bedroom, bathroom, closet wall, or on a door. See several examples of them being styled this way from the homes below.

Last I did see a few arched mirrors but not many…sharing an example of this style as well.
