Bedding 101- REFRESH your space
One of the easiest ways to REFRESH your space is to update the bedding. Not sure where to begin? let me share with you a few key things you will need. I am currently working on a REFRESH of my master bedroom. I would like a new mattress but Im saving for a few other larger renovations in the works so I decided to add a 2″ memory foam cushion to add some new life without the bigger cost. I will link the one I bought below. I also reupholstered my headboard for about $100, super easy, I will leave that how-to for another day. I am now ready to order my new bedding. Where do I begin? Here are the basic building blocks you need to get that professional looking bed, ready to be styled to perfection.
1 SHEETS-I like to pick a neutral color as the base, WHITE or Cream, sometimes a simple pattern can work , I will link some options for you below but to keep it easy and simple go with a solid.
2 Base Layer DUVET (the insert you place inside the DUVET will determine the degree of warmth, a heavier insert for winter months and a lighter cooler one for summer months.) You can also add a blanket below this DUVET for more warmth as you can see in the image above.
3 Top Layer is a QUILT/Comforter folded the long way set perpendicular on your bed as shown above, this layer has two purposes, one for the layered look to add dimension and two, for warmth (in cool months you open it up for added warmth, and in the warmer Months you take it off when you go to bed.
4 PILLOWS- I like to have 4 pillows, 2 we sleep with and a fluffier pillow inside a SHAM you place in front of those pillows…I then like to add a long lumber pillow for a simple look or you can add a grouping of 3 smaller pillows. See examples of each below. What is you favorite look? let me know below….xxo tana
